Drop off with beautiful coral growth
Data & Description
Position:
Cap de Creus - formerly a restricted military area. After opening the Cap, the mainland, as well as the coastal area, was protected. This means that it is not allowed to be fished - and that's why a good population of marine creatures was formed. You can see many octopus, scorpionfish and more and more groupers again. In addition, there are moray eels, conger and occasionally Mola mola (ocean sunfish).
The dive sites on the Cap are easy to dive, occasionally you have to navigate a bit. So a compass is not bad. We were there at the end of July and for this season a semi-dry suit recommended. The water temperature was between 12 and 22 ° C, and who freezes easily should take an ice vest. The visibility varies between 8 and 20 meters, depending on the wind and weather conditions.
Local dive center:
Poseidon
Description local dive center:
We were very satisfied with the diving center "Poseidon". The dive sites were well explained and beginners were taken by "hand". The boat and the dive center made a very good impression, however, the boat is quite full during the lunch dives. But this is also seasonal. In summer there are just a lot of introductory divers who simply want to get to know the feeling. The journey to the dive sites lasts between ½ and 1 ½ hours.
Weather:
Description dive spot:
Long approach but huge stone blocks and a drop off to 40 meters rewards the diver for his efforts. Depending on the current (which is usually there) you take the reef left or right shoulder. The beautiful drop off, overgrown with gorgonians, anemones and red corals. You can easily dive the site and even on the way back it is not boring. The upper part of the reef is very rugged and you can see all kinds of small fish and scorpionfish.
