Description dive spot:
The "Shark Reef" is located on the southern tip of the Ras Mohammed National Park between the dive sites Anemone City to the north and Yolanda Reef to the south. Here, the Gulf of Suez meets the Red Sea, which guarantees current that brings an extraordinary biodiversity of underwater creatures with itself.
A spectacular dive site that should not be missed. Especially in the summer, the diver encounters huge schools of barracudas, mackerel, batfish and surgeonfish here on the steep face at a depth of 10 to 25 meters. Sharks that gave the dive site its name are often not far either. The south side of the reef, especially exposed to the current, is beautifully overgrown with purple soft corals.
Those who have no experience in drift diving and do not feel comfortable on steep reefs that fall to the blue should, under certain circumstances, join a personal guide or an experienced diver.
Mostly the current runs from north to south and allows the classic drift dive, which starts either directly here at the Shark Reef or even at the dive site "Anemone City" and leads to the "Yolanda Reef".
